The liberal doctrine

“White-collar conservatives flashing down the street, pointing their plastic finger at me.  They’re hoping soon my kind will drop and die, but I’m gonna wave my freak flag high . . .”  Jimi Hendrix had a way with words, and the ability to transcend time.  The lyrics expressed in the song “If 6 was 9” might have applied to the perception that the “silent majority” had towards the hippie protesters, but one thing is clear–it can apply in today’s climate.

Today’s political climate has two sides.  One side is right, and one side is wrong.  Depending what side a person is on, usually decides who is right or who is wrong.  There isn’t a middle ground anymore, and George Bush is to thank for that.  He was responsible for letting the Evangelicals take over the Republican party, and he let them shape his policies.  That was unfortunate, and now they are brazen to be bolder.  They are, in essence, turning the volume from 6 to 9.

Then there is the “tea party” movement.  A movement that was pretty much born due to the fact that we have a black guy in the highest office in our country.  An office that symbolizes American Democracy. We the people..right?  The media portrays their movement as one for less taxes and less spending, but most of them are on Social Security and Medicare.

A majority of  “tea baggers” believe that President Obama wasn’t born in America.  If 6 turned out to be 9 then they would be right.  Fortunately, 6 is not 9 and if it was there would be a lot of mathematicians out of a job.

That is where we come in.  Liberals must wave their “freak flag high”.  We are for financial regulations.  We are against off-shore drilling.  We are for health-care for all Americans.  We are for immigration reform, that doesn’t slap a person in the face.  We’re doing that in Arizona, by fighting against SB 1070.  Liberals across this great country are fighting for the rights of minorities.  That is what we do!  We fight for what’s right, and we must challenge the people who are wrong.  We mustn’t do this through violence, but through intelligence.  Add fact and logic, and it makes for a perfect mix that far blows the opponents on the other side who rely on fear.  It is not alright for a network or their commentators to knowingly spread lies and propaganda to fit their ideology and agenda.  Furthermore, it is not alright for liberals to sit there like frogs on a log.  We are the ones who are right.  We are the ones with fact and logic on our side.  We are the ones for the fight for freedom.  We are the ones who proudly volunteer for the armed services, even though we do not believe in starting wars for the sake of war.  We are the ones that stand for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  And, we want that for all people-not just ourselves.

And if we do this right, we can say,

“Point on mister Businessman, you can’t dress like me.  Nobody knows what I’m talking about. I’ve got my own life to live.  I’m the one that’s gonna have to die when it’s time for me to die.  So let me live my life the way I want to.”
