Let’s Take Back The Government By Not Paying Our Taxes

It has happened again.  This nation, touted as the greatest nation on Earth, is undergoing another manufactured crisis at the hands of our corrupt politicians.  Politicians on both sides of the aisle use words to make people take sides.  Over the years, enough of an alliance is built that splits both sides of the electorate to despise each other.  Over the past 13 years, the conservatives hate the liberals and the liberals hate the conservatives.  In between the levels of hate there consists a set of arguments that fly over the head of both sides.  The media has done a great job of dividing the millions of people in this Country.  Politicians can use racially coded words to get their “base” riled up against their opposition. It’s fun to take sides, but all of these tactics are distractions.  These tactics are deployed to distract people from the real enemy–politicians in Washington.  After-all, what would posses someone to raise millions of dollars to run for a job that pays $100,000, $200,000, $400,000 a year?

Political Junkie or not, we all know about lobbyists.  Lobbyists are hired by corporate america get payed millions to go into Washington to spend millions on politicians to pass legislation that favors their bottom line–profit.  All of these things that benefit corporate america are brutal for us as Americans.

We live in a Country that has polluted waters, tainted food, polluted air and are having to deal with severe storms that can be attributed to climate change.  As a nation, we’re having to be forced to fend for ourselves, and as every day passes by we are less safe.  Kids are having to face the fear of death just by going to school.  As horrific as the events in Newtown, Ct, this is the normal in the urban community schools in our major cities.  Every day, in this Country, we have hundreds of children dying in senseless gun violence.  As a nation, we only care about the white children dying.  Again, these events are all turned into distractions.

For example, one of the biggest distractions in this nations debate on guns is the head of the NRA, Wayne LaPierre.  Have you ever wondered why he goes on tv and says such outrageous things?  The answer is quite simple, he’s the boogieman.  If all the sides tied to the gun debate focus on LaPierre that means that no one is focused on the gun manufacturers.  The gun and ammunition manufacturers (usually publicly traded companies on Wall Street) are allowed to pump out their products without facing pressure from shareholders.  If we truly want to make changes we need to stop buying into the distractions.

Has this ever happened to you?

You work, and work, and work, and work and you keep being told that you can’t get a pay raise because of the lackluster economy.  You take it with a grain of salt, but you look around at all the executives in the company driving around a brand new car every 6 months while your forced to work 10, 20 hours overtime a week.  Over time, you develop a dependency on that overtime income to survive. And, over time, your overtime is used as a bargaining tool for more productivity. Executives starve the workers by cutting overtime for weeks until the employees demand for it, and when they get it they are happy not realizing that their overtime rate should be their regular rate of pay.  This is another huge advantage that the corporate world has over the workers.  All that overtime is a huge added benefit to the employer, and this is why so many companies give overtime to their employees. So, What do you do?  Chances are people do nothing about it.  They just accept it as the normal, and they say to themselves that they will work slower.  That all changes when someone gets fired.  When a worker gets fired worker productivity goes up, profits go up and wages go down.  It’s one of the easiest fear tactics deployed to sheep the herd.

One of the greatest tactics used to herd the sheep is to tell the productive workers that their tax dollars are being used to pay for the unproductive people in this country–the takers.  The takers are the people who collect welfare, food stamps, draw on disability benefits while not being disabled, use Medicaid benefits, but this is all a distraction.  Wonder why there is an attack on “Obamacare”?

We live in a country where 75% of the people are overweight or obese.  We are forced to buy cheap food that is loaded with chemicals designed to kill us.  We also live in a country that is run by a piece of paper–The United States Constitution.  We are a Government created by the people for the people.  However, how are we being served?  Where do our tax dollars go?  Seriously, what are tax dollars doing for us?  The U.S. House of Representatives work 126 days a year.  Their average salary is $168,000 a year.  What do we get for that?  Well, we get the sequester.

The budget sequester is a series of $85 Billion in cuts that happen within a year.  Republicans love cuts, democrats say they hate cuts but both sides agreed to do nothing about it.  They went on vacation without dealing with the biggest problem facing this nation. Where is the outrage of the american public?

The Tea Party keeps talking about taking back the country, but why can’t we all take back the Country?  If the elected officials really wanted to end welfare, food stamps and all those “evil” social programs then why aren’t they in favor of a $15 an hour minimum wage?  First of all, $15 an hour would provide people with a living wage that wouldn’t fill the need to draw off welfare, food stamps or medicaid.  It would also be a burden on the private sector, not the Government.  The Government, in turn, would get more tax revenue that they can use to fund investments.  The investments that are deeply needed in this countries infrastructure needs.  But if this one simple thing happened the media wouldn’t have a wedge to use for ratings.  Think about it.

If we had a Government that raised the minimum wage, legalized marijuana and actually enforced immigration laws we would be better off.  However, we are forced to deal with wage decreases, a lower standard of living and we are all being used as pawns.

The one thing about the sequestration that is really pissing me off is that members of congress and their staff are excluded from pay cuts and layoffs.  My brother, an air traffic controller, is going to have to be faced with a 20% cut in pay before he gets laid-off.

Can you imagine having your pay get cut by 20% a week?

This is what we, as a nation, are forced to deal with.  But it doesn’t have to be this way.  I have a solution.  Enough is enough, we need to take back our Country.  We need to form a more perfect union.  We, as workers, need to unite.  There are over 100 million of us and only 535 politicians in Washington.  Enough is enough, and all we have to  do is just one thing.  Don’t pay our taxes.

As April 15 approaches, we either have to pay taxes or we get a tax refund.  People who get a tax refund get all giddy, but why?  A person who gets a tax refund is a person who is a fool.  They have given the Federal Government an interest-free loan every week for a whole year.  That interest-free loan has gone to the real takers in this country–the politicians, special interests and war mongers.  The average food stamp recipient gets $3,600 a year while the  average oil company gets 1 billion dollars a year, and behind every one of those transactions is a slick politician getting their pockets lined with green.  Enough is enough.

If every single worker in America would just simply take a pledge to unite and go tax-exempt on their W4 forms from their employers we can get the leverage that we so badly need.  If 100 Million workers don’t pay their taxes it will send a very strong message to Congress.  Essentially, my proposal is “starving the beast” that conservatives say they would love to do.  If we all do this the Government can’t arrest us all for not paying our taxes, right?  No, but I know what you’re thinking.  Congress will just pass an emergency law that automatically takes taxes out of your pay.  Well, then 100 million of us need to unite by not showing up for work.  Sure, now you’re thinking, “If I don’t show up for work I won’t be able to make money to survive.”  However, remember the power of 100 million.  If 100 million of us don’t pay our taxes, don’t pay our mortgages, don’t adhere to dogma and just stand up for ourselves this will truly be a great nation.  This will be one of the biggest hostage negotiation in our nations history, but I truly think it will pay off in the end as long as we always remain to be a step ahead of the competition.

I know this sounds crazy.  I know that I sound crazy–insane.  However, the demographics are changing in this Country.  In 20 years, the minorities will become the majority.  What does that mean for the World’s largest economy?  Minorities don’t have the same levels of opportunity that whites do.  Why do you think it costs $100,000 for a four year college degree?  It’s so that the privileged few can get so much.  It doesn’t have to be this way.

We are in the year 2013.  Growing up in the 80’s we all dreamed that we would have flying cars at this point in time.  My proposal is a big idea, and it will be a big fucking deal.  Enough is enough! Sadly, we live in a nation based on fear. Too many people don’t have the balls to inflict real change in this Country.  That is why we are forced with the people we have in Congress, and even this president.  This is why we never will be all treated as equals.  This is why the privileged few will continue to run a wrecking ball through the middle class.  This is why we all will be forced to buy this poisonous bill of goods that has been dumped on the American people for far too long, but I do think that there will come a time when the revolution will happen.  Sadly, I won’t be around in that time.
